Hammerhead sharks

We have been learning how to write different types of animal reports.

Hammerhead sharks
A hammerhead shark is a mammal.

A hammerhead shark eats lots and lots of food. They eat fish, squid, octopus, sharks and stingrays. Each day some hammerhead sharks eat up to 34 kilograms a day. That's enough for a dinosaur to eat 12 other dinosaurs.

Some Hammerhead sharks have a rectangular nose, sharp teeth and lots of fins. They are very big. A great hammerhead is the largest of the nine species of this shark. It can grow up to 20 feet.

A hammerhead shark is found in tropical and warm coastal areas. They are found in the ocean far from the sand in deep areas.
Image result for map where hammerhead sharks are
There is usually a litter of 12 to 15 pups born except for the great hammerhead shark which gives birth to litters of 20 to 40 pups.

Hammerheads use their wide heads to attack stingrays, pinning the winged fish against the sea floor.

I saw calves and goats. It was so cool. Then I saw fish and lizards. Everybody thought the lizard was a snake. Then we went back inside our classroom to see our Vaseline saucers.

This is how to make pikelets.

The delicious pikelets

Have you ever tasted pikelets? Pikelets are a sweet fluffy treat.

First, get all your ingredients together. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.

Secondly, in another bowl beat the egg and sugar with a whisk until pale and thick.

Thirdly, add the egg mixture and the milk to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Finally, gently heat a nonstick frying pan and drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture from the point of the spoon onto the surface. When bubbles start to burst on the top of the pikelets turn them over and cook the second side until golden. Place them on a clean tea towel to cool.

This is how to make pikelets.

Partly Cloudy Writing

Partly cloudy
The birds swooped down to the new and clear houses dropping baby tigers and human babies. If you looked up into the sky you could see birds and birds and more birds. The birds looked like a big puffy cloud.

All the birds suddenly disappeared into the puffy clouds. Everyone thought the birds would come back but they didn’t. They just disappeared in the white clouds. The birds came every year to deliver the babies to the houses.

Flash flash!!! The clouds transformed a puff of cloud into a real baby tiger. They also created babies.

Down below was a sad cloud trying to make babies. The hopes and joy disappeared from the storm cloud.

He tried his best to make a baby crocodile and it worked. He was expecting his bird to arrive. The cloud could see the bird charging like a bullet from a gun towards him.

The bird was scared of taking the baby crocodile. He was afraid that the crocodile would bite him.

He came back again. There was a goat. The bird didn’t want to take him because he knew he was going to bite him or bump into him.

Next there was a hedgehog. He knew it was going to do something bad. So he carried him very carefully by the end of his beak.

The bird came back again. The cloud popped out a big shark. Suddenly he flew straight to another happy joyful cloud. The storm cloud turned black and got very mad.

He got very very sad and started to cry. The bird came back with some safety gear to wear so he wouldn't get hurt.

The storm cloud is now feeling happy. The bird came back and the there was an electrical eel. But this time the bird didn’t go away he just was very careful.

The end!!!

the plane ride

We have been learning how to write narratives. Here is one of my narratives I have written.

Flying a Plane

As the sun was going down as slow as a snail. The
old tree stood still. The nice pink and colourful clouds drifted slowly across the sky. Lots of dusty and dirty roads wove their way through the green paddocks. Houses stood in the distance.

Bob came walked to the old oak tree. She wanted to fly her newly made plane. She threw her plane into the air like a dart.

It was all going well until suddenly there was big gust of wind. The plane zoomed to the village. It shot up into the air and then it went down again. It dashed straight towards  bob. “Ahhhhhhhhhh!” Bob yelled.

Bob saw someone. He was running straight towards her. Bob kept on screaming then the man jumped and grabbed the control.  He quickly pressed the up button. The plane shot up like a bullet into the sky just missing Bob’s face.  Finally Bob could control it again. “Thank you,” Bob said. “That's ok” said the man.
Now Bob always checks the weather to make sure it isn’t too  before he goes to fly her plane.

Visual Pepeha

This took me a long time for me to make.
I sketched a portrait of myself.
I found letters to make my name.
Then I stuck it onto a kete.
Then I drew mountains and korus in the background.

WINTER

Winter blows its cold  icy breath everywhere.
The early morning frost is crunchy and white covering then green  grass.
The loud wind howls in the freezing air like a stray dog hungry for a bone.
Tiny snowflakes flutter down to land on the frozen ground,
covering everything with a white sparkling blanket.
The trees become bare, brown bones standing like statues admiring the view.
Heavy rain falls from the dark grey sky, pounding against the soggy ground.
Chilly bitterness in the air, winter is here.

Here is my writing!
Autumn - DRAFT
The cold breeze flows around me as I walk down the pathway. The heavy rain charges down at me like bullets from a plane. . Suddenly I heard a crash of thunder. Then it started to hail. It felt like hundreds of stones crashing on me. Suddenly a big tree zoomed down on the ground. Crash I darted to my bedroom. I opened my curtain. I saw hundreds of leaves blowing up and down over and over again. Then they flew away as fast as they could run. Then I saw dad with a big chainsaw cutting down the tree. It took all day long. BOOM!!!! CRASH!!! Long away. I saw a big fire. I saw lots of smoke the dark grey sky pounding against the soggy ground.
