Triathlon

Kia ora on March the 24th the whole school had to participate in our Triathlon. I came 3rd  and here is a picture of some of the people in my class. I felt awesome because that was the first time I came third in a triathlon. I  participated in the Weetbix Triathlon and won a bike.  

A new digital learning tool.

Kia ora this week we have been trialling StoryboardThat as a learning tool. We had to create a vocabulary storyboard based on the book called the Anzac Puppy. I chose to create most of my images using photos from the internet. But creating the cartoon images was fun too.

Kia ora this week we have been making movies about myths. We had to write a myth plan about the myth then make that into a narrative, then make that into a movie. Here is my movie.

Narrative

Long long ago when the world was young there lived a sky god and the demon of death. One day up in the clouds the demon of death got very mad. He sent rain clouds and thunder to the people on earth. It caused a lot of damage to the city. 348 people died. The sky god came and the sky god and the demon of death had a fight. Luckily the sky god won. That is why on earth sometimes the weather is good and sometimes the weather is bad. It’s because the good God, the sky god is still fighting the demon of death.

This week we looked at photos of Andy Warhol's art and we looked at all the colours and we did it with our own heads and shoulders by using pixlr. The part I did well was using different colours for backgrounds making good contrasts.

Minotaur

This week we have been learning about the Minotaur, he is half man half bull. He live in a labyrinth on the Island of Crete and ate youths.

Pleading a Cause - Persuasive Writing       

Pretend you are the King of Athens.  Write a letter to King Minos, pleading for the lives of the youths who are to be fed to the Minotaur.

Give at least 3 reasons why their lives should be spared.

Remember to write a conclusion at the end to link your reasons together.

Dear King Minos,

I am writing to you about the fate of the nine doomed youths.  I plead for their release on the grounds that:

Dear king Minos

My first reason: please do not feed people to the Minotaur because they have done nothing wrong  

My second reason: these people might grow up as very good trained defenders of the city and we will easily take over your city

My final reason: killing these boys will not bring your boy back from the dead they will be dead too and you will still not feel any better   

Conclusion: so are you going to keep throwing people to the Minotaur
